Welcome Home Hannah Kate

Laura and Hannah were released from the hospital this afternoon. We enjoyed our time in the hospital, but we are glad to be home. The Doctors and hospital staff provided excellent care and helpful instruction. Both Laura and Hannah are healthy and looking forward to time together at home.

Many Thanks!

Chris and I wanted to send thanks to all of you guys who have sent sweet notes, congratulations, and well wishes to us while we have been in the hospital.  Hannah Kate is doing well, and if all continues to go well we should be leaving the hospital after her afternoon lab work.  Hannah Kate had a fever and dehydration during the night, and we are making sure all of that has been taken care of before we are released.  I am also recovering well.  I have been up walking around, and taking care of our new little one.  Between the anesthesia and late night feedings, I am tired but doing well.  Thanks again for all the sweet notes.  They have been a blessing to read while experiencing this exciting time in our lives.

She has arrived….

Hannah Katherine Dewease was born October 18, 2008 at 1:44 PM in Louisville, KY.  She weighed 7 lbs 14 oz and was 20 inches long at birth.  She was born by Cesarean section.  Both Laura and Hannah Kate are doing well.  They are both resting here at Norton Suburban Hospital.

Praise the triune God above all, for his bountiful blessings.

Now what everyone has been waiting for, the pictures.

It’s about time!!!

After a nice restful day, and a great meal at one of our favorite restaurants (Havana Rumba) we are anxiously getting ready to leave for the hospital.  Laura’s mom and stepfather arrived in Louisville this afternoon, and we are all ready to welcome our little girl into the world.  We called the hospital to check for an available room, and we are scheduled to be admitted around 10:00 PM.  From there we look forward to the arrival of Hannah Kate.  We are praying for strength and health for both Laura and Hannah.

Thoughts on the election

The candidates for US President are entering the last few weeks of campaigning.  There are still many days of stump speeches, and crossing the country telling Americans what they what to hear.  The mantra of change has now become the rallying cry for both the Democrats and the Republicans. The debates are now in the history books and the economic crisis has taken center stage.  Many important issues are falling to the background.  I am concerned that policies that effect our wallets like taxes and health care are becoming the basis for choosing a president.  There are many things at stake in this election.  My apolitical friend Jason Fowler has written an excellent peice concerning Obama’s record on abortion rights.  Check out his post here.

Friday Evening Fun

Several weeks ago we had a great Friday evening at the 2008 Bluegrass Ballon Festival, hot air ballon glow.  Check out some great pictures of the event at The Fowler’s Snare.

Blogging

Laura and I have had this blog for a while.  Several of our friends have checked in often and given us a hard time for not actually updating the blog.  After some nudging, I thought that today would be a good time to begin.  The goal of the site is to enable friends and family to keep in-touch as our family grows and matures.  I hope that you enjoy the site, and remember to add comments.  We will check in and update often.
